After

A new-build backyard with bare clay became a flagstone patio on an eight-inch base that hasn’t moved through two hard winters.

New construction left the Walshes with compacted clay and a few patches of struggling grass.

We dug out the clay, laid an eight-inch compacted gravel base and set Tennessee flagstone with polymeric joints, then planted the edges with native grasses that handle the wind up here.

“Our flagstone patio came through two hard winters without a single stone moving.”
